Those people who wish to Source the parts, and solder themselves.  But usually, those who can source the parts, and Solder SMC components, *USUALLY* know how to source their own boards too.

Great for the 0.1% of people out there!  For the rest of us a bare PCB is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike!  As for paying 100 pound for a fully assembled board, a cheap A500 will do nicely!

A cheap A500, where the components are getting toward the end of their life.

If you had to make a totally new A500, using TODAYS off the shelf components, it sure would be costing more than the minimig. (And it would not be 12cm x 12cm).  A500 does not have an inbuilt Scan doubler, Minimig does.

Think you missed the point.  A minimig is for what exactly, just to play a few simple games!  Granted it's nice and small!  I wouldn't want a to buy a new A500 nor would I buy a new one for $240AU or 100 quid no matter how small it was!

My point is a $5 Amiga 500 will do the same thing and if it breaks well I'll spend another $5.  It's going to take a few decades before the minimig pays for itself!

Half of the cost of the minimig, is low numbers of part orders, means higher cost, and given how Xenepp got stiffed by "Interested Customers", I am glad I am not doing a Full production run.

Agree with you there and yes it's sad that Xenepp has been duped by some end users but I suspect that the problem is bare boards are just useless to the majority of people as are expensive assembled boards.

I suppose it just goes to show there isn't a market out there for any new Amiga's!
