I think the problem of rebooting the Amiga after you turn it on as nothing happens is to do with the HDD having to spin up.  I thought it was something to do with Amiga OS trying to intialise a drive that wasn't quite ready on cold boot.

The drive spinning up happens but the intialisation routine has passed so the reboot is required.

That was my impression anyhow.

Right, that's what I read elsewhere, but I would have thought that with no hard drive (i.e. when I disconnect it), I should get the WB3.1 prompting screen without having to do a reboot.  Every day is a learning experience for me when it comes to Amiga.

Yeah absolutely right, sorry I missed that part.  Is there an accelerator card in the trap door at this point?
