A1000/500 & A2000 (& variants) just show B&W pictures on the composite video out.
If you want to use colour in a modern(ish) TV, use a
Converted to S-VHS A520.
To use a VGA monitor, you need an
external scandoubler (expensive as hell), but I think it is an overkill for a humble A1000.
