Hey,
If you're good at building stuff with electronics, you could always convert a old PC mouse to a amiga mouse - look at the Wizard schematic on
www.ianstedman.co.uk.
Shouldn't be too difficult if you use the original board with its opto sensors and microswitches extended off to the above circuit (Remove the original IC first, though).
