Flat screen on a 3000
« on: April 09, 2006, 05:22:08 PM »
I have an a3000 and I would like to use it with my pc's flat screen monitor that has the standard connector (VGA [D-sub 15pin]).  All I get is a message saying the "signal is out of range" on the monitor.
I assume this has something to do with the frequency of the a 3000 display, is there any way of changing this?

The a3000 works fine on some older crt monitors ive got lying around.  Is there a way to convert the output so i can display it on a tv or my old philips amiga monitor, with composite video in?

Thanks alot

It must just be my monitor, ive twiddled the nobs on the back of the 3000 and nothing has helped, though flicking the switch did cause a flicker on the monitor, no screen was displayed.
The monitor was a £100 special 18 months ago so its probably too basic.
Thanks for your help

Do i change the screen mode of the amiga by holding both buttons on startup and choosing the option?  Will the setting stay that way while i unplug the amiga and lug it back to my tft?
Thanks

Holding down both mouse buttons did not bring up the same menu as in the a1200.  I only got the boot options, not the chipset options.

So i bit the bullet and opened up the case (15 years old and the warranty seals were still intact) and found the jumper for the display (ntsc and pal).  I changed this to ntsc and now it works on my monitor completely in games and workbench, at several resolutions.

I am amazed at how much better the a3000 runs games.  At last wing commander is playable, all ive got to do now is install a  better hard disk.

Thanks for everyones help.

I believe you can get replacement batteries for cheap and it should not require any advanced soldering skills.

I did notice the battery was slightly corroded and is a little bit leeky.  I will give that one some thought.
