Prometheus graphic card woes
« on: February 05, 2008, 05:52:50 PM »
Hi All-
I need some quick advice.  I tried to get my Prometheus graphic card working on my A4000 last weekend.  Ran long enough to convince me I want a graphics card, but crashed unpredictably (sometimes when I moved mouse, or opened program, or closed program that had opened successfully.) I striped out all my speed-up hacks and ran box-stock OS3.9, which helped a little (I think- very unpredictable).  Is this where Buster chip revisions crop up, or is my quaddoubler '04 speedup CPU card making timing problems (its been rock solid for years otherwise)?

The Prometheus seems to eat about 4meg memory whenever I plug it in.  Is this common?  And if so, would another graphic card  leave me with all 16 megs of memory?  Any recommendations will be welcome.  I'm aiming for a system that will let me run Hollywood for development purposes.
Yours-
CRL
