best file system???

i have just installed a 60 gig hard drive but my present file system can only see 8 gig.
what the best and easyest to install system?
thats free, im skint after buying all the below parts

m1230xa
32mb ram
mediator
voodoo
sb128

oh dear, can i get the system to give me 7 or 8 partitions of 8 gig each?
