Amiga Anniversary & The Future
« on: May 15, 2010, 03:26:43 AM »
Now that the Amiga  is celebrating it's 25th Anniversary, i'm sure quite a few of you have been reminiscing about the good old days, as the current is not what we would want for our beloved machine.
Even as i write this,  Amiga.inc are nowhere to be seen, perhaps they are doing community service, who knows. Our community is still here, so it's not all bad.

Now we look to the future, some new hardware is coming from various places.  The main one that comes to mind and hopes to recapture some of the Amiga glory years is the AmigaOne x1000. Quite a big power house machine that hopes to put the Amiga back to the cutting edge.

Will they succeed when all others have failed? maybe, maybe not. One thing i am quite sure of,  If A-EON could Predict the future, it wouldn't be to far away from this...

Let my future self just say....Thnx bud!

Cutting edge?  Not with those specs.  A modernish machine yeah, but hardly the pushing the boundaries of technology like the original Amiga was.  The key here is survival, maintaining some level of connection to the modern world, no matter how remote.
It was cutting edge when i posted that in the wee hours of this morning,  not so much now in Sobriety ;)

I just bought Amiga Forever (even tho I have used WinUAE for years). I plan on installing that on a win7 laptop.

I'm keeping some form of Amiga around as long as I live
Yeah i've have been quite tempted to do this recently also, even more so since the new 2010 pack has just arrived...

Oh and Amiga Inc are no more, another reason to be positive about the future ;)

There site still seems to be down, you could be correct.  Did we have an update on this ?   not that it matters much really, they have done f**k all.
