I've texted my mate Axeman - He gets an hour for lunch..

He's into his astronomy - he even moved house to a place up a mountain in the middle of nowhere as there is less light polution. He's adapted his camera and attached it to his telescope to get some fantastic pictures.

Great, the only blue sky here is in the west.

The rest is filled with very dark clouds. Looks like it's gonna rain.

Thanks to the crappy British weather we miss yet another atronomical event. :pissed:

Anyone remember the total eclipse in Cornwall? The only way you could see it was by turning on the TV and watching the RAF Hurcules film it from above the clouds. And then it only had a camera on one side so they had to fill with a load of crap until it was back in position!!

Grrr.

I headed down to the Isles of Scilly to watch it. I love those islands. It was absolutely fantastic. I bought a special filter for my SLR - but alas due to me forgetting my fat lens, and some cloud cover acting as a filter - I couldn't really get anything. I then was interviewed with my Dad by local BBC radio.

Still - once developed I was able to bring the images up a little - and sure enough I got a good photo. It currently overlooks the downstairs toilet in my parents house..

I was amazed at how quick the sun dissapeared - you could see the shadow trace over the Atlantic. It was fantastic :-)
