widescreen vs 4:3 on the amiga, Opinions?
« on: September 15, 2016, 03:14:50 AM »
What is your opinion?

What monitor would you rather have your high end amiga (assume a nice graphics card)?

1600x1200 UXGA CTR or 1920x1080 LCD?
These are relatively close in the number of pixels

both have a their advantages (and disadvantages)
Which would you rather have?

What about a high end amiga but with a bit lower end graphics card (like a picasso II note: make your you fix the pin 9 issue before you us it on an LCD monitor)

For this the example resolutions would be a bit lower
1152x864 +XGA (or simiilar 4:3) CTR vs 1280x720 LCD (or similar 1366x768 or 1280x800)?

Overall I personally like the CRT as it allows exact pixel registration at lower resolutions.
This is especially nice for games running in NTSC or PAL resolutions with a scan doubler.
Also the 4:3 ratio "feels" like an Amiga.

However at the exact native resolution of an LCD monitor, the LCD monitors seem superior, as they are extremely sharp.  However, I cannot stand low resolution extrapolation on a high res. monitors,   they always look "soft" or worse as there is antialiasing going on.
