I had a similar issue on my 2000 with a 030. As soon as the installed game loaded, it would crash.
I enabled the NOAUTOVEC like Matt_h suggests. Problem went away. There are notes on how to do this at the bottom of the whdLoad support web page (
http://www.whdload.de/).
Try the readme that came with whdload as well.
