Help me fix my broken CD32 pad

Try using isopropyl alcohol on the membrane and board contacts and dry it off. You will be surprised what that stuff can do for electrical contacts.

I have serviced controllers in the past with success let me know if you need a helping hand, Il be happy to do it free of charge. (though Tension offered first so speak to him before me to be fair).

Oh just an observation, did the CD32 have 2 Different D-Pad styles? (the black plastic bit I mean).

I fixed it.

Dont ask me how, but I opened it up, rubbed a bit on the contact pieces, then I mounted it, launched Naughty Ones on my A1200 and "Up" worked fine!

There was nothing wrong visually inside it. I suspect maybe the cables running inside the 9-pin cable is a bit broken.
