2000 Startup
« on: September 20, 2008, 06:08:08 PM »
My 2000 had been running without problems for a couple years. I took ram off an installed Fusion board that had never worked. Next boot, the machine would hang at the end of startup. Using early interrupt to bypass the startup, all the drives were recognized etc. I tried a barebones startup-sequence and it still hung. Hardware right? I reseated everything, pulled the Fusion, and now no boot at all. The HD light pulses slowly and eventually the 3.1 insert system disk screen comes up. I guessing the next step is to start swapping...

Also, the memory didn't get recognized when I moved it to a Fastlane in my 4000 (I believe the jumpers are correct)...

Thanks

I stripped everything out but the floppy. No luck. So I have now swapped the motherboard and psu. Still the same thing. I have to believe now that it is the 3.1 rom, which I transferred. Any other thoughts? Any way to test?

I am running 3.1.

I'm going to be back at it tomorrow and will check the jumper... however this is a system that previously worked. The only thing that has been consistently connected in all my attempts has been the floppy itself. I guess I'll try disconnecting that??

Colchester CT... not far.

Thanks for assistance.
