Amigas trashed!!!
« on: June 16, 2015, 10:00:19 PM »
Just had a conversation with someone who works at the local cable company. They are moving to a smaller building and 3 weeks ago "recycled" a whole room full of Amiga's and accessories. He came into the shop were I was working looking for an old G3 or G4 Mac Tower! I would have traded him :-). This is a guy who likes to play with "old stuff", but didn't think the Amiga's were "good for anything" (his quotes).

Find the local dump or recycling center! Quick!

Unfortunately the recycling place is like a black hole.... once it goes in, nothing escapes! Apparently is some kind of Provincial law regarding privacy or some nonsense :-(.

So what?  We had in our building several sizeable skids of Atari monitors that could have been repaired or made to work with Amiga because they were RBG monitors.  Who do you think would have been doing the work?  I guess that would have been me.  Am I a business?  How long would I have had to wait for people in the Atari or Amiga community to give me help?  It isn't like any of them would have flown out here to give me a hand.  And guess who would have had to pay to recycle the old ones?  Me.

Yeah, but that was Atari junk....Not classic Amigas!!!  :-).

But seriously, I was upset because half a mile from were I work there was a few hundred pounds of Amiga stuff that I (and other people as well) would have paid good money to cart home. If they had just put it on Kijiji or came into my work 3 weeks earlier, they would have made a little money and saved them the effort of cleaning out the room.
