I made a music video with the help of Amiga!
« on: September 10, 2016, 08:13:11 PM »
Hello fellow Amigans,

A couple of years ago I released a music album, the creation of which involved the Amiga as a key tool. I just released a new music video for the track "Prom Night on Callisto" and again, Amiga software played a vital part.

You can watch the video on Youtube:
https://youtu.be/AUOgL38W2-I

All the computer graphics were built from scratch. They were first modelled in Aladdin4d, then I switched over to Lightwave 5.0 to finish the models, texture them and do the scene layout. Model textures were created with ImageFX and DeluxePaint5.  The spaceship's computer screen animations (i.e. "Landing Secured") were also done in DeluxePaint. For final rendering, the Amiga Lightwave files were moved over to Lightwave on a PC, but this was just for CPU speed (what would have taken weeks to render on even a 68060 Amiga took hours on a PC). However, other than that, there is no reason that any of the graphical elements could not have been done completely on an Amiga. This was my first ever 3D modelling project.

The actual video editing, including pulling together of CGI Amiga-created elements with live footage was done in Sony Vegas.

The album, entitled "Fate of the Country", employed the Amiga in many roles, including in the music (sounds, sequencers, editing) and the design of the cover art. You can purchase the full digital-download album from Bandcamp for $2US (50% off) by using the promo code "amigapizza".  This special price, to celebrate the release of the new video, is in effect until October 9th.

Of course, real physical copies are also available on CD and cassette (perfectly retro!).

If you'd prefer iTunes or Amazon, it's also available there, but I do not control the pricing:

Here are some other links about this project:

Another music video for this album, for which ImageFX was used to create a lot of the graphical elements:

The original Amiga.org thread about the album, describing how an Amiga was used to create the music:

An older thread from when I was still creating the CGI elements:

Lastly, here's a third music video from the album (no Amiga used for the video, but Bars & Pipes was used for the music):

I hope you enjoy all of the above!
