Oh....YES....text adventures are the BEST computer games ever made.  I have absolutely the most fun I've ever had in front of a computer with text adventures (now called Interactive Fiction).

They are still being written, are often downloadable for free, the good ones are absolutely compelling, unforgettable and absorbing.  Even the mediocre ones are fun.

Also, because they don't have graphics (all the imagery is in your mind) they don't get dated (any more than a good book would be dated).

Watch out for those twisty little passages, by the way.  They are all alike.

Speaking of Zork, do you know if there's some way to run the game with a given font?
I know I can do "setfont topaz 10" and it sets a new font for the shell in use, but can setfont be used to set a system-wide font?
No Workbench here. I don't use WB at all, just AmigaDOS (and I do everything I need way faster than clicking around)

Try playing Zork in the Amiga version of Frotz.  I believe it will allow you to set the display font for the game in session (plus other settings like text colour, etc.).

Wow, this Frotz engine is really irritating. I couldn't find the parameters to specify font size and colors. There's a menu to set these parameters inside Frotz itself but saving them doesn't work. Do you know what those parameters are?

I can't remember off-hand how I did it and now my A500 with Frotz installed is all packed away.  I do remember there was a way to permanently set the font.  It might have been in the display settings found within one of the pull down menus at the top.

I think you MIGHT have to have an adventure loaded into Frotz to save any parameters/settings in Frotz.  Then the settings might only apply to that particular adventure (so you could have separate preferences for each adventure).
