Yeah, when I was having problems with my Cybervision board I just removed the Cybervision driver from DEVS:Monitors/ and then copied over the screenmode.prefs with one from a normal stock WB floppy disk.

It reverts to normal Hi-Res mode then.  But then there is a major PROBLEM.  The new Workbench 3.9 screenmode requester is TOO LARGE for the Hi-RES mode.  The buttons for ACCEPT and CANCEL extend below the NTSC Hi-Res screen.  You can see all your screenmodes listed, and can test them, but you cannot select them the with SAVE, USE and CANCEL buttons because they are cut off below the bottom edge of the screen!  You you cannot then get out of Hi-Res mode into something more useable like 640x400 Interlace, etc.

In a way, this is sort of a bug/design flaw in OS3.9 (unless anyone knows a solution for this).

The A4000 then booted into a rather colourless HiRes Workbench screen and I was able to go into Prefs/ScreenMode and see Save Use and Cancel without problem.

I wonder if you were able to see the buttons because you have a PAL Amiga (I assume that's what the German developers of OS3.9 also used).  On my NTSC A3000 these buttons were cut off in Hi-Res 640x200 mode.  You PAL users get an extra 20 or so lines of resolution at the bottom of the screen in Hi-res mode, don't you?

Also, as I recall I was using Workbench in "backdrop" mode.  I wonder if I would be able to scroll down to the buttons if it was in "window" mode.

Lastly, I think this problem only happens with the new screenprefs program in OS3.9 and not with the older one in OS3.1.

These are all good tips.  As I recall I had tried to use keyboard shortcuts and had no luck.  But I wasn't aware there was a "Save As" menu option, & I had totally forgotten that I could boot up in PAL by pressing SPACE at the early startup menu.
