Sounds like he's the seller or has contacts with him otherwise how did he got your email in the 1st place ? Did you exchange any emails with the seller before even if regarding this item ?

Just curious, did you ship to his paypal adress ? If so that means he hijacked some user's Paypal account at the same time.
One place I've found to be dangerous is obviously cybercafes, beware of using money related services on them!
