ScanQuix vs. FxScan
« on: January 18, 2007, 12:22:08 AM »
Hi. My scanner is a UMAX Astra 2000U. Since I upgraded from Win98 to 2K I haven't been able to use it since the drivers for 2k/XP are comercial!!! They don't seem to be available around the net. Haven't tryed P2P but that's risky in terms of trojans and the like...

So I though about using my Amigas to do the scanning:)
Hence I have a few questions..

1- Wich one is the best regardin to drivers ?
2- "" functionality ?
3- "" future prospects (coninued development) ?
4- Supported platforms (AmigaOS4, MorphOS) ?

Maybe I should simply install linux once and for all but I don't feel like learning yet another OS...

Cheers

Ok, forget it, done a bit more of research and my scanner is not supported on either package...
Maybe someone has tried it ?

Yes, it's an USB one, wich would be a good excuse to get a USB card for my Amiga:)
I've done some more search and there seems to be good working drivers on the SANE page (Linux driver package from wich most BetaScan ones are ported) but they're in beta stage (on the CVS).
BTW, is it simply that Betascan doesn's have drivers for USB scanners ported yet, or it needs an update to support USB?
