I never got much into techno/electronic stuff so I missed the whole sequencer, tracker whatever.. generation software for the Amiga. What I want to do is to record multiple tracks of audio to the HD (do NLE) and then do some adjustments on levels and maybe some effects but these last 2 things can be on different software, I don't care. I'd like to make a clear distinction on what software type does what, and what examples of available stuff for the Amiga are good.
To my limited (and probably wrong knowledge) it goes like this:
- Sequencer: Allows samples and midi instruments played using standard music notation to be combined in a sequence on multiple tracks (normally 4 audio channels on the Amiga)
Software: Bars& Pipes, Octamed Sound studio.
- Tracker: Allows multiple samples to be combined in multiple tracks (like a sequencer but no MIDI)
Software: Protracker
- Multitrack software: Allows recording of sound directly to HD while playing other tracks and cutting/pasting etc. parts of recorded tracks (NLE).
Software: HDRec
- FUll NLE combines all the above with effects and equalization.
Software: ProStationAudio, AudioEvolution
I basically want to be able to record some guitar riffs to HD and combined them with recorded drums (NO MIDI), 2nd guitar, bass and vocals. I guess ProStationAudio or AudioEvolution are the best for this but let's say I don't have much cash to spend right now. I'll probably end up trying them all but what are your experiences and what combination would you advise ?
