You aught to look into getting a Scart cable. Scart is considered far superiour to Composite regardless of quality and cost.

Besides Scart is just a connector standard that houses audio, RGB, s-video (luminance and Chrominance) and composite video. Just because a TV does have a Scart connector doesn't actually mean the seperate RGB lines are wired. Its totally possible to have a telly that only accepts s-video or composite over scart. I think some tvs with multiple Scart connectors do it this way. Primary is wired for everything and the additional ones are just composite or s-video.
With that being said, yes, an RGB scart connection would certainly be the best option, if he had it available.
