"bas" = "cvbs" = composite video signal (Composite Video + Burst + Sync). You will often see European video connectors labelled "FBAS".

So what it probably does is output a composite video signal that you can connect to your TV in NTSC or PAL. The SVHS output is the same signal but with chroma and luminance separated, for input to a VCR or monitor.
