OK, I bought the kickstart roms 3.1, now what?
« on: August 19, 2006, 08:31:24 PM »
Because of the mailing with (I believe it was) Flashlab, I bought the kickrom 3.1 chips thrue Vesalia.de.
The chips costs € 23,20
But I do not live in Germany, so the international bank shipment gonne cost me 13,50 extra!
However, it seems less then buying it thrue for example ComputerCity.biz. CC sells them for €35,-- without post and packing! (about € 6,20)

But, thats that!
Now I have the kicks, how to install them....
probably somewhere explained on the net.
Any suggestion how to find...

'how to install kickrom in amiga'

You should have received some installation instructions which are specific for your Amiga model - it isn't possible to give generic instructions for installing the kickstart ROMs.

We have half a dozen different sets of printed documentation with diagrams for the different Kickstart 3.1 ROMs.  Which Amiga do you have?

I forget this everytime!
I will adjust my signature which describs my Amiga.

Hi Amigakit,

I visited you website, looks great. Time to investigate it all! (If I only had some more)

As soon as I receive the chips, I will get to it straight away. Remember my name, FAME!

I had ajusted my signature explaining my setup of Amiga.

Now the Amiga World will know!

Thanks, Frisby

Payment method: Cash in ADvance (Bank Transfer).

Shipping & Handling:                                 5.30
---------------------------------------------------------
TOTAL AMOUNT:                                       23.20

Bank Account Notification
(because of transmission to Germany)

17/08/2006 FOREIGN PAYMENT   - 13,60 EUR

How to set this to lower costs, if banktransfer going to cost me 13,60 eur anyway?
How much would it cost to pay in advance to the UK?

Do you know the dimension of the chip?

in milimeters, please, because inches is not by best why to calculate.

I need to know this to get a chip removal tool.

thanks

Bank transfercosts to be investigated, Lemmink!

Banktransfers from one EU country to another should not cost one penny more then a banktransfer within your country. That is defined by EU law. Some banks still "offer" the old way of transfering and it is perfectly legal for them to charge this much, but upon request they should make a standard EU-transfer with no additional costs. Any hornest bank should handle it like that right away without you specially requesting it.

What was I thinking? (Did my brains ever work anyway?)

It never occured to me that I had to deal with international costs, untill I saw the overview of my bankaccount.:-o
I will ask my bank why they charge that much, and I will let them explain to me how I can do business without charges!

Thanks for the warning/suggestions.

« Reply #8 on: August 25, 2006, 09:48:40 PM »

The kickstart roms 3.1 I ordered by Vesalia.de
Nice and well packed and unharmed!

OK! now what?

I will replace the roms later this week or month.
(I have a short holiday ahead next week)

What can  (or should)I expect when I have replaced the 3.0 with the 3.1?

I have this (english) manual of WB 3.0. Will this still be enought to know?
What are the new applicatons I have to know/see?

PLease inform me.
