Hi DIABLO_NEGRO,

You don't say in your post if you've had it running before or if this is a new install.

I myself have toaster 4.3 and I get the same sort of crash if I try starting toaster from the LW5starttoaster icon. I think it's due to its needing a flyer.

So are you starting it up from the standard Toaster icon ? or the StartToasterLW32 or StartToasterLW35 ?

As I don't have 4.1 installed I can only go by my somewhat limited experience with VT4.3 but it sounds to me either your not starting from the correct icon ,or it is not installed correctly, or it is some other conflict like maybe a ram problem.

If you purchased your VT from the original owner you can get a transfer of ownership letter from them and send it to NewTek with your reciept to register your VT as they still give tech support for registered Amiga VT owners !

Good luck, and I hope you can get it sorted out.

@ Oldsmobile_Mike,

"That's fabulous! Good for you, Newtek!"

Yup, I registered mine just last year no problem and they helped me figure out a problem I had with it over the phone. I thought there was something wrong with the card but it was the original software that I had (it had a bad disk), so I got VT4.3 and all works great now.

Great service NewTek !

@ DIABLO_NEGRO
The icon that you want to use to start the Toaster resides in the Toaster drawer, not the NewTek/Programs drawers ! The icon is labeled "VideoToaster". You will find that some of the icons in the NewTek/Programs drawers require a flyer to work.

Hi ID4,
If you are looking to buy replacement software for your VT ,  I would try...

  " www.mrhardwarecomputers.com  "     , thats where I bought mine for $100 dollars U.S. .

Their phone number is on their website and Russ is really helpfull and is very knowledgable about Toasters , I myself was very happy with their service.

I will also follow up this message with an E mail to the address you provided just in case you don't check back here.

Cheers... T23

Hi Framiga, It is most likely about the ram.

As I said in the first reply to this thread, that it could be a ram problem, but it also seemed to me to be possibly something else from what he had said.
Details help.

I have Toaster 4.3 which contains VT3.1 which I run on my A2000 with only 1Mb chip and have had no problems with lack of chip ram, although it would be nice to have the Minimega chip, you do not need to have it in order to run the Toaster.

I run my workbench with a plain grey screen and only a couple of icons left out, this leaves me with 857216 bites of chip ram, after starting the swtcher and returning to workbench by pressing  "Ctrl Ctrl and left Alt twice" it shows 242312 , granted this is not much left for chip ram but I think that the software has allocated a chunk for the Toasters use as I am able to use the Switcher fully, grabbing frames, all effects/transitions, superimpose ect. and the CG and Lightwave also work fine with no problems.

It maybe that he has not left enough chip ram before he goes to start the Toaster, the answer to that is to run a clean workbench with no color patterns or other things that eat up the chip ram.

I can say for sure that it will run on only 1MB chip.
But more is always better  : )

As for the software your looking for have you tried the place I suggested above ?

Chow fer now,  T23

Hi Framiga,
Expensive  maybe ,

but like the mechanic in the film Mad Max says...

"speed is just a question of money, how fast do you wanna go ? "

I don't know what the commercial retail price would be these days, You'd have to call around and compare if you're looking to save money.

I'm sure that stock would change frequently and some prices would be negotiable depending on what your buying, it's always best to call.

I'm just glad that there are still real Amiga dealers out there for us to call. If you need it, and you just have to have it.
It's there on the other end of that phone  :-)
