Re: new prototype

Hello,

this project seems really *A LOT* interesting. What about giving more information in english of the project and creating a web page of it? It seems really promising but too few information for non-russian people.

About the project, it can have a very great future in retro machines using floppies. This project can be even more interesting if adapted for other floppy-based architectures too (Acorn Archimedes, Amstrad CPC, Apple II, Atari 8bit/ST/Falcom, BBC Master, BBC Micro, C64, Dragon 32/64, MSX, Nec PC-100, NEC PC-8801, Nintendo Famicom Disk System, SAM CoupĂ©, Sharp X1, Spectrum +3/Sprinter/Scorpion, Sharp X68000, Sega SC-3000, Sinclair QL,  TRS-80, TI-99/4A, Jupiter ACE...) using some kind of modular platform design (two modules and one being used for connecting to the floppy interface of different computers). Of course I'm not asking you for supporting the wide variety of floppy-based architectures, but designing your project with this on mind, supporting a few and providing the necessary information for others developing modules for it.

Best regards,
timofonic

PS: MskoDestny, I found you here! You never replied my emails, please do it about the SCD stuff, read the PM.

What about megring with 1541-III? I think meging your design with that and using a modular design like I said you before could make this device a lot interesting for more people (more  retroplatforms supported = more people interested). What about releasing the technical stuff with some Creative Commons license for non-commercial use? It could be nice having the stuff you did in self-mounting manner and technical stuff too for hardware geeks and the mounted stuff for the average people ;)

What about supporting other formats like DMS (compressed ADF) and IPF? It could be nice if not needing to convert between formats and only copying to the SD/MMC.

This project looks great, any news?

Does it have a project website? There are free hosting on sourceforge, not sure if it's the more appropiated one but is a possibility.

What about joining with the HxC floppy emulator? This floppy emulator is designed for supporting more kind of drives and formats, maybe both can collabore in some way too.

I find the TR-DOS support quite interesting. What interface do you use? Do you use a Pentagon or Scorpion? D+ interfaces are compatible with TR-DOS and Beta Disk?

In fact, my emulator supports PC/DD 720K floppy format, too. Tested it on PC under Linux, and on the Atari 1040ST. I think we've talked with the author of HxC emulator before, don't know if the two projects can be merged together. I'd be happy to share whatever knowledge of floppy matter I have gained so far.

You can contact with the authors directly over his forums.

The good thing is that they are already two people, probably one more could make thigs easier. It could be very nice if you join the HxC Team as providing experience on Amiga and TR-DOS :)

The BDI interface has been the most popular among Russian ZX Spectrum hobbyists. My own DIY Spectrum and BDI boards are well dead since early 90s. I am waiting for a fellow Scorpion owner to test the emulator on real hardware, I have only tested it under Linux with TR-DOS track format.

I know about that interface is quite popular in Russia, I would like to get a Pentagon/Scorpion machine. Not sure if those machines are now produced properly and not know if the D+ is compatible with it.
