Ahh,
i see what your doing....

you are trying to put a full HDF into another Empty HDF...
(Thats like putting a floppy inside a floppy disk)
No need to do that. (er, it`s impossible anyway)
but you can copy files, to and from, two separate disks...

The HDF file just goes into a windows folder that contains AF6.

Then change your AF6 settings so that it boots from HDF.
You can then use that HDF just like a real hard drive to put in, or delete, your documents and files.

Strange,
Where did DH3  come from?
(You must have created a new empty hard disk, called DH3 - no, you must load one thats already there - system.HDF)

Forget about DH3...

In the AF6 settings you went into the Hard Drives section, then you pressed the button marked Add Hardfile...A new window appears, at the top where it says path, press the button at the side...A requestor window appears...look for a file called System.HDF..click on file, press open ...you perhaps saw something like :C:\workbench\Amiga folder\System.HDF , click OK
Then press start...

If nothing happens after that, then it`s time to read that weblink ...

good luck...

Hum,
can you get a neighbour to help you?

i have no idea what you are doing wrong.

it is usually really simple to set up AF6, so long as you know how to access the settings (F12) AND SETUP A PATH to the HDF.

It may be the computer/XP that is corrupt.

for a test have you tried creating a new HDF that involves pressing another button (under New Hard File) called create, (call it dh4:)...

make the size about 100Mb...

Did that work?

A last resort is to rename the HDF (dh3:) to DH0:

(HOWEVER, make sure that dh3: has an operating system (os3.1/3.9) in it....)

If that doesn`t work reinstall AF6 (again) And begin again from fresh...

In AF6 settings,
highlight the path, to system.hdf (is that hd3:) then press
`properties`,

in the box that says devices, change to to dh0:

Hum,
SP2 is compatable with AF.

---------------------------------

Better to have sp2 than a virus.
(er, though some may disagree)
