I know this isn't ideal, but have you considered getting a Scart switch box? I have one like
this which works well. I have an Acer HDTV and it gives a very good picture from my A1200 when connected to an RGB Scart socket via this box.
It won't really save you any money as you'll still need to spend a few quid on a Scart lead to go from the box to the TV (assuming you don't have a spare) but it will save swapping cables around :-)
