Kickstart Disc
« on: December 17, 2005, 01:32:59 AM »
Hi there,

I still have an A500 with 2.04 that´s in working order, also a 1000 and a CDTV. I was trying to revive the 1000 machine, but all of my kickstart discs have died, except for the 1.1, which isn´t really of help.

Do I have any chance to use e.g. my cloanto ROMs for building a kickstart disc? I have a Catweasel controller, so I could build this image with UAE and wrtie it back to disc afterwards.

Please note that this is no piracy, I have the original machine and also the ROM files. All I want to do is to write it to disc...

Thanks,
Chris

Wow that was fast...

I think bigdans utils can help me pretty much, I can use them in UAE, create a Kick and then copy the buffer to disc with Catweasel.

Thank you guys, that was really quick. This forum seems to be as friendly as the Amiga scene was back in 1990...

Cheers,
Chris

Damn, this is cool!

FYI: I made an image of my original 1.3 Workbench using Catweasel, then opened the image in ADF Opus on the PC and added "transrom" and "writekickdisk" to the "c" drawer. I then booted UAE with that disk, using Kickstart 1.3 in the first place. After that, I wrote the Kickstart ROM to the ram: disk, copyied "writekickdisk" there and put a blank image file in the virtual df0:.

I then used Catweasel again to write the image back to disk. Wow, that really works.

Funny stuff - thanks for all your help.

If anybody should ever be in need again - I can send out disks from here. Just let me know. I now have Kicstart 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 for the A1000...

Yep... :-)

Do you have any ideas where I can find some schematics for this machine? The vent at the back seems to have some kind of trouble and I am thinking about replacing it...

Thanks,
Chris
