To be fair, the Warp Engine is worth £175.00 (228 Euro's) of anyones money.
Surely not? That is one hell of a chunk of change. I have paid in the recent past £35 for an A3640/25 and £65 for an Apollo 4040/40. Do you think an 040 accelerator can go that high? You are entering 060 Cyberstorm MKI/II territory!
Respect to your Amiga-Wiseness Alexh, but how much is it worth to put 128Mb ram into your Amiga? People pay over £200 for DKB memory cards & it`s about 20-30% slower than the Fast Ram on the mobo. Also, the Warp Engine 040/40 was much faster than other makes of 040/40. Tbqh, forgetting actual CPU MIPS, I`d rate hard drive access & snapiness of the Amigas Desktop to be huge over the 060 card. The 060 despite being faster in MIPS is severely held back with emulated 040 Libs. 128mb of 60ns ram on a Warp 040/40 is mentally fast.
The Warp manual warns that not using 60ns ram for the 40mhz 040 will mean you have to enable a wait-state for the slower ram by fitting a jumper. Forcing this on the 60ns ram & making it run at 70ns is noticably & appreciably slower. If you could see mine running, I`m sure you would appreciate it`s value. It`s awesome for an 040 card. Wonder what a true 50Mhz 040 on less volts with 50ns ram woulda gone like!? WOW!
MkII 060`s have gone for as much as £250 for just the card & just over £340 with hard drive & cables & original box.
I`m toying with selling mine. It`s not being used & is part of a big clearout I`m having soon. Maybe £150 is better inc insured postage, but then in all honesty, anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay anyways. But to put 128Mb ram with a blazingly fast 040 behind it with onboard SCSI II is worth £150 to anyone, surely!? ;-)
Best wishes,
Kin :-)
