I get a similar problem... but it is because my CD writer is really old and crappy (it reads CD-ROMs and audio CD-Rs and that's about it)
Anyway, back to the issue in hand, do you have the latest makecdromfs.module? If not, download it
from here and try again - it might help.
- edit - there's a beta10 available so you might want to grab that at the same time, especially as it "adds support for new Yamaha drives"
