AA Chipset and Widescreen Displays

Probably Super-Hires mode is best for widescreen displays.

I have a Widescreen TV but haven't actually tried this, however all widescreen TVs do is stretch out the horizontal direction.  You would need to force it into 16:9 mode as the Amiga doesn't output a widescreen switching signal, but this shouldn't be a problem and I imagine it would look like a wider hires mode.  I've been meaning to try it for ages but my Amiga is happily connected to an ordinary monitor and it will probably stop working if I disturb it.

Okay, I changed my mind  :-)   Had to increase the font size due to the low resolution of the TV (and the flickering), but the aspect ratio is pretty good in Super Hi-res Interlaced.  I could probably have increased the overscan a bit, the default gives a border around the edge of the display.  I didn't have any decent high resolution and hi colour pictures on my HD to demonstrate properly unfortunately (should have thought of that before I disconnected it to move it nearer to the TV).  The picture on the right is a strange background image from the OS3.5 install, the one on the left is a resized and reduced colour Eric Schwartz one (which most will recognise, I think).  The strange colourisation and lines are due to it being taken with a digital camera and resized.

Unfortunately the monitor-specific Super Hires modes are not as high resolution as the PAL/NTSC ones.
