Re: Amiga 1200 HD Problem

Has anyone installed an Elbox 4xEIDE'99 adapter?  I picked up one last week and have been having a hard time to get any partition above 8GB. (does OS3.5 scsi.device/hdtoolbox allows up to 8.something GB?

I have a 20GB hard drive installed, before I used only the first 8GB or so in 4 partitions.  I think I had an IDEfix patch installed.  I am ok going back to that, but... the first part of the instructions with the 4xEIDE was to remove IDEfix or other scsi.device patches.  I decided I would start my WB install from scratch.  Loaded WB 3.0 from disk.  Made a 200MB partition to install on.  Installed 4xEIDE software and got CD-Rom drive up and running.  I then installed WB3.1 and then proceeded to install 3.5.  Installation went perfect, but once I shut down the machine (hard reboot) the CD drive was not present.  Figuring OS3.5 altered the mount list I reinstalled the 4xIDE driver/software.  CD is back.  I am still stuck with max of 8GB or so in HDToolbox.

The instructions for the 4xEIDE say you can "split" the drive into logical drives of "under" 4GB, translated 3.9GB.  Using the 4xEIDE.driver and 4xEIDE.prefs, I have been able to get the drive in split mode, but recieve a warning:

You have changed driver mode for one or more HDDs (Split/no-split) into incompliant with the disk installation or partitioning.  The driver mode must always comply with the way the disk was installed.  The only exception is when you want to install or partition the disk in a different way(split/no-split)

I have gotten HDToolbox to show the logical drives and have even installed and setup the partitions.  After the required reboot, they are not present and the 4xIDE.prefs lists the driver in "No-Split" mode.  I even tried reinstalling the OS again after making these changes and figured that once the driver was reinstalled it would show up again.

At this point, I'm not sure what to do to get the "extra" space on my HD.  I may just live with the 8GB as it is more then enough space; however, if someone knows the trick to this, I would like to utilize the extra space.

Will welcome any input, and Thanks!
