A rant (not for those who are offended by strong language)
« on: January 23, 2009, 07:35:46 AM »
Dear thieving c***s,

I am writing with regard to the bike wheel you stole from me last night, you worthless, selfish piece of s**t. I hope the money you make from selling it helps you to buy fags, booze, condoms and mobile phone credit for some of your revolting, obese s**g children. I am a student and cannot afford to replace what you have taken from me, but please think nothing of the inconvenience this will cause, nor of how upset I am that some unemployed, worthless dole scum piece of s**t has come in to my property and stolen from me.

I understand that stealing from people may cause you some inconvenience also, due to the unsociable hours. I may have a solution for you: get a f**king job.

Sorry to hear about your brother's motorbike. It basically comes down to the fact that people are arseholes. I have been coming to that conclusion for most of my life, and it was confirmed once and for all when someone decided to cave in one of the panels on my car. The excess on my insurance to have it repaired was £300, which caused me significant financial problems. Especially seeing how it happened twice. I had no choice but to repair it as it was a leased vehicle.

As I said before, people are arseholes.

My other half is checking our CCTV. Looks like we have caught them on camera. So I'll be on the lookout for them! If I catch them, I'll rip out their backbones and make them eat their own eyes for you Speel - maybe that will make you feel a bit better ;-)

@Lorraine, Eyso, Matt and Cecilia
Your replies are the only thing that have made me smile and saved this day from being miserable. So, thanks for cheering me up. Oh, and we got excellent pictures of the offenders on our CCTV. I plan to print them out as large as possible and laminate them along with a sign saying something like "These people stole my bike wheel. If you know who they are please let me know!". Who knows, it might work. I know that in the grand scheme of things having a bike wheel stolen is not the end of the world. But it will cause me a massive inconvenience, and the worst part is knowing that the offenders came on to our property, our home, to do it. Very upsetting really. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like for your house to be broken in to and know that someone was in your house!

@Speel
I have got a practically indestructible bike chain but don't chain up the wheels. It never occurred to me that the wheels alone would be desirable to a thief :roll:

@Bloodline
Speaking of pushing myself, I finished a new song yesterday. That's 5 so far for the album :-)

Cheers again guys!

Well, my other half picked me up from the train station today and brought me home. We we pulled up to the house I saw that he had bought me a new cover for my bike. I made a sarcastic comment that was a bit late for that, but he insisted I come and have a look at it. When I got close enough I saw a new wheel poking out from underneath! I pulled back the cover and saw that attached to the new wheel was a whole new bike!!!!! I can't believe it :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) I think I'll keep this one in the garden instead of on the drive way...

Yes, I must now go and tend to that burning pile of twisted metal and rubber in the garden...

Speel - note the way two chains are used to secure the bike and both wheels ;-) This one will live in the garden, as it wouldn't susprise me if the thieves came back for more, and when they found that the couldn't steal it decided to kick it to pieces instead...

But you haven't got it chained to something  :whack:

Yes I have :-) There is a bike hook attached to the wall (which can't be removed while the chain is through it) and the bike is chained to that. You just can't see it because the bike is in the way.

They just can pick it up and cut the chains at home, AND which isn't a difficult job because the chains you use are, if you pardon my french, lousy. You really need those with solid chains, like this one:

They are solid chains inside. The plastic coating is just to waterproof them and stop them from rusting.

Very nice bicycle btw. :-)

Thanks :-)

but I fear thieves will think that too.

Maybe, but I think they'll have a hard time getting it off the wall! Those chains are practically impossible to cut through.

Well, the police are coming over this morning to have a look at our CCTV footage. Probably seems like a bit of an over-reaction, but I'm not just going to let it go. First it's a bike wheel, then once the b*stards think they can walk all over you they're in your fking house.

I made the mistake of watching the CCTV footage last night. It's very upsetting to see someone just walk on to your property, take your possessions, then walk off as if they have done nothing wrong :cry:

Why would it be an over reaction? :-?

Dunno, I just assume that the police have more important things to do with their time. However, an officer actually came round today and looked at the footage, and took printouts. She said she will circulate it to her colleagues and if anyone recognises the offenders they will arrest them. Here's hoping.

Keep in mind that they're not anonymous anymore because of it.

True. I'm also thinking of sending a copy of one of the pics to the local paper. If they print it, there's probably a good chance someone will recognise them ;-)
