The IDE interface does not support extending the hard drive away from the board (as in the case of a splitter cable) and does not support multiple devices. I have read that doing so not only will not work, but could damage the EFIKA.

I have got a CD-ROM drive on my EFIKA connected by USB. I'm not using a slim drive, but you could use something like this. Take the guts out and there will just be a little PCB which will connect to the CD-ROM drive and convert it to USB.

Note that I have no idea whether that particular one will work on the EFIKA or fit your optical drive. It's just an idea. My only experience is with a standard 5.25" CD-ROM and a 40 way IDE->USB1.1 converter, which worked.

The adapter I use is this one.

I know for sure that they will fit some laptop CD drives as I have used one with a ThinkPad drive which I took out of a T23 laptop.

You could also try mounting your EFIKA CD drive how I did :-D

Yeah...on my Mac though...is there a MorphOS version available & where do I get it?

There's a MorphOS version of VLC Media Player. That might play Quicktime files. You can find it here.

A couple of years ago when my main home machine was a PC, Apple provided a PC/Win full version of Quicktime (presumably to steer people towards their hardware).

From what you said...they no longer do? :getmad:

The do.

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

The download page will offer the Windows version if you're on a Windows machine. QTLite (linked to above) allows you to play Quicktime files (in your browser IIRC) without the full Apple version of Quicktime.

If you have iTunes installed then you already have Quicktime.
