Manual protection
« on: November 08, 2008, 11:50:24 AM »
Is there an Amiga games database anywhere which gives details of whether or not games have manual protection? I have checked HOL and LemonAmiga, but neither of these sites seem to contain this information.

I don't see why. I've got a load of boxed, original games here, some of which don't have manuals. I want to check whether the manual is required to play each of them, since installing with WHDLoad usually removes the manual check anyway.

I think that's pretty much how it goes for all WHDLoad installed stuff

Yep, but I want to make sure the games are usable without the manual when running from floppy in case the person who (hopefully) buys them doesn't want to use WHDLoad.

Exactly. I know that I personally would be extremely annoyed to receive a game only to find out that it needs a manual which is not present in order to play it. I don't want to start the game up and just see if the game starts without asking for manual protection, as some games (e.g. Exile) don't ask you until later on in the game. So I'm looking for a database which will tell me whether or not the game requires a manual to get past the protection.
