Boot partition within the first 2GB IIRC. Other than that, no restrictions.

what about the 4gb limit. is this a problem? i was assuming the 4gb limit was a problem seeing a partition on a drive past 4gb as that what happened to me. or is it a patition that is over 4gb in size? is it ok to long format it? i did and it seemed fine.

OS3.9 patches scsi.device and has an updated FastFileSystem which remove the 4GB limit. You can safely use the whole drive as long as you don't subsequently write to it under OS <3.5, which would be using an old unpatched scsi.device which is not safe for >4GB partitions.

Nope. IIRC you can use drives up to 128GB.

You're probably thinking of low level format, which can be dangerous for drives which don't support it. However, this is different to a slow format of a partition, which is perfectly safe for any partition.

Edit - just read the link you posted. Hmm, don't know why slow format isn't safe. I'm sure I've used it without problems. But you might as well just quick format it anyway.
