Yes they can in theory be upgraded to a PPC card.

Hmm, my understanding was that the card was basically a CSPPC without the PPC. If this is true, then it would be logical to assume that the missing PPC components could be added to a MKIII. Perhaps the source which stated that the MKIII and CSPPC are the same card was mistaken.
