Hyperion site still down (WIP?), Troika website being updated*, supposedly Amy'05's appearing next Big Bash, perhaps a Amy / OS4 release Q4, this year this time?

Who knows...

The spec was a little disappointing a year ago. With Intel dual-cores starting at £70 and affordable quad-cores and DDR3 available a year away (bah!), how easy / difficult would it be for the designers to bung in a faster G3 or G4. Still no comparision but it would be nice if it came close to PPC Mac Mini speeds.

CPU clock speed isn't the only consideration. If the OS is kept small and efficient like AmigaOS then there's no reason it can't still perform well on a G3 machine. I do agree though that a G4 or G5 would be much more attractive anyway.

The other problem with a G3 is that it is getting to the stage when it would be cheaper and faster for some x86 hardware to emulate it faster. As a last resort, if no hardware appears would a Virtual A1 / UAE Cyberstorm edition be useful to keep the scene going?

Unfortunately, Hyperion are restricted by their license agreement and can only allow OS4 to run on AmigaOne hardware. Until this restriction is lifted/modified, the only way to (legally) run OS4 is on an A1. OS4 on a Mac Mini would be wicked - but it's just not going to happen at the moment.

This is only true in countries where such laws applies, though. If OS4 will be commercially available with an EULA stating it not to be run on anything but the A1 hardware, you don't really have to obey this EULA in your home unless the specific laws of the country tells you to. In other words, if there would be a way to 'modify' OS4 to run on your Pegasos, your Macintosh or whatever PPC hardwere... it doesn't necessarily have to be illegal to do it.

Maybe so, but if Hyperion are only allowed to distribute it with an A1, then the only way to get hold of the OS legally is to buy an A1.

Oh, and I have to add... what happened with Troika's promise of more regular updates on what's going on?

I'm not convinced we will ever see any products from Troika or "Amiga". So I'm saving up for a PegII instead  :-D  It may not be called an Amiga in brand, but it is more Amiga in spirit than the A1.

Anyway, we're  :horse:
:-)

Who cares about "blue" and "red". At the end of the day, "Amiga" have done nothing IMO for the Amiga community. The true meaning of Amiga has come to mean the community which support it, not some deaf and dumb company which gives nothing to the platform's loyal users.

MorphOS was borne of the Amiga community. It is a labour of love by people who are passionate about the Amiga platform. My opinion is that this makes it more Amiga than the "Amiga"One. That's why as soon as I can afford it I'll be getting a PegII :-)
