Not sure I would agree actually.
While there is a greater volume of software available for Windows, most of it is crap. I have never failed to find a Mac alternative for a piece of Windows software, and on the whole, Mac software (even freeware) is of a much higher standard than Windows software.
It may take a little more hunting to find a Mac alternative, but web sites like versiontracker.com and macupdate.com are excellent repositories of Mac software.
Also, while some hardware may not be compatible with the Mac, you can be sure that the hardware which is compatible will work flawlessly, with none of the headaches oftn associated with installing new hardware on Windows.
