P96: Why is changing monitors such a pain?
« on: January 17, 2006, 07:08:52 PM »
When I first got my Voodoo, I had a real problem getting it to display anything. Eventually I found the correct combination of clock, hfreq and vfreq, and I finally got a picture.

I changed the monitor for a smaller one today, and had to go through the whole rigmorole again, because the values I selected for the previous monitor wouldn't work with the new one (input signal out of range).

I don't understand why P96 can't sense the settings of the monitor for you, like graphics drivers do on other platforms. It's not exactly a massive inconvenience as it's not something you do every day, but it does seem a little odd.

How about a thread on here where people can post their P96Mode settings for their monitor?
