Homedir trouble
« on: April 26, 2011, 06:27:34 PM »
So, for no apparent reason, my um... "homedir" for lack of a better term, has changed. Let me explain:
My SYS: is fine, it points to dh0:
But, when I open a shell or a program which asks for a file to open, it defaults to hd0: instead, which is not my primary system drive and that's a bit annoying. Sure , I can change the shell's default behavior, but that doesn't solve the problem. I've no idea what caused it either. So, anyone who knows what should I change to get my homedir back to dh0: (an env variable maybe...?) please help me!

thx for your reply Franko!

bad thing is that hd0: is actually an existing partition, just not my system one. Also, it's not just one proggie pointing to it, but rather every program which defaulted to dh0: before and the shell as well, so something has messed my homedir (I think).

startup files are clean of that, ditto for tooltypes, ie black's editor has no default dir set in the icon and nothing set in prefs. It defaulted to sys: until recently :/ Again thx Franko!

actually I kind of "cloned" my hd recently ie took my new 320gb one, made the exact same partitions (only bigger) and copied all data from the old disk exactly as they were and where they were. The thing is, it was ok until about a month or two ago whereas my "cloning" took place about a year before.... I've double checked my volume names, my device names, my assigns.... it drives me crazy! It's not *that* important to be honest, it's just SO annoying!
