Nope, not on an A500, these adaptors require an amiga with the AGA chipset, which can output some screenmodes in >31Khz rate

Yeap, it will work in an A1200, but only for some special screenmodes. Most of the games wont work. You need a scan doubler to get the native 15Khz output of the amiga up to 31Khz so it can be viewed in a modern VGA monitor.
