Acorn monitor on a1200
« on: November 03, 2005, 12:51:34 AM »
Hi,

Do any of you know if an Acorn AKF-17 or AKF-30 monitor is compatible with an amiga a1200? If they are, then will all screen modes be visible? Also, the ones I'm looking at only come with power leads, so if they do work, what additional leads will I need?

Thanks,
Peter

Thanks for the information. The AFK-17 is sold now unfortunately but I still might take a gamble and buy the AKF-30. I read that it is from 1992, so it should hopefully be of some use to me...

Thanks

Right, sorry to dig up an old thread...

I recieved the monitor today and it does display all screen modes, however, the colors are broken; I only see different shades of pastel blue and pink. Now, I have no way of telling if the monitor itself is faulty as I have nothing else to test it on. Does this problem sound familiar to anyone? Is there something inside the monitor that I could adjust that might remedy this?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I've opened up the cable and it does indeed look badly made (last time I buy a cable for £15 from some random on ebay). Looking at pinouts I've found it appears to be wired wrong. Can someone please confirm to me or point me in the direction of something telling me which pins should be connected to which other pins on a 9 pin sub-d to 23 pin amigo lead?

Thanks

Right, I've just tried the monitor with a cable that I know works and I don't even get a stable image now so either the monitor isn't compatible (likely) or the video output on my a1200 is broken (unlikely, but not impossible). So my advice to anyone thinking about buying an Acorn monitor for their Amiga on the off chance that it might work - DON'T. With the money I've spent on the monitor and cables now I could have bought a decent monitor from ebay (if I'd been patient). So, who wants to sell me a scandoubler? :)
