It's not just running in the future, it's running firmware compiled 9 months in the future :-)

Depends which version. Cyberstorm version should be out any day now (TM). AmigaOne version probably needs a bit more development/betatesting. BlizzardPPC version is a complete unknown to me.

But 2003 for the two first, that's for sure.

Uhm, you're OH so silly.

They're doing the FINAL testing of the emulator integration using OS3.9 running in emulation. Thie is because it's the only way to _really_ know you've tested every last bit.

Once OS39 runs stable under emulation you're pretty much FINISHED with the critical emulation betatesting, NOT just begun.

The core parts are already done (they were done in C, so was tested on 68k before the kernel was ready).

Jesus, you just HAD to misunderstand the WHOLE point of the exercise, right?

I don't think they "will compile" out of the box, I'm pretty certain they "have compiled" already. Do you think no modules have been tested under execsg just because the emulation hasn't been foolproofed? Come on.

Kronos:

Why do you keep insisting that there's no system to test it on? I already tried to tell you they're not running OS3.9 under emulation because they don't have an OS4, they're doing it to find the last missing bugs (of course they're not going to find the last missing bugs (this is the definition of last missing bug, isn't it?  :-D ), but they can try, can't they) in the frelling emulation. The reason why you haven't seen a demo of the whole system (like with MOS) is that Hyperion does NOT want to show a crashing demo (like with MOS). Hans-Joerg has said so himself.

The thing with OS3.9 running under emulation was mentioned as a side-note, because if you think about it it's really a good idea.
