MCP might not autocrash your amiga unless you enable something you shouldn't have enabled, but there's too many options that no longer work in OS3.5 and OS3.9 for MCP to be really worth it nowadays (unless MCP has been given something of a swift kick and an update recently?). Tried out appiconpatch from aminet? I haven't I just saw it when searching two minutes ago. A1200 is in parts on the shelf, otherwise I might give it a go :-)
