Replacing blown iMac G3 Speakers (Help needed)

The speakers in my iMac G3 are blown.

I bought a pair of good speakers pulled from a broken iMac G3 same model.

Has anybody ever opened up one of these and got to the speakers?

Is it easy? Any precautions ?

I think they just plug in somewhere near the front. Be careful when opening, if you touch the back of the monitor in the wrong place, you're dead, literally!!!

Even if the imac is unplugged from the mains?

Yes, those old monitors retain a powerful charge. Be careful and you'll be alright. Otherwise we'll hold a vigil for you here.

I guess i will avoid any large capacitors, wires/cables and that suction rubber cap thing that crt monitors have at the back. Wear shoes and no watches and jewlery.

Managed.. The speakers are now replaced and it sounds fantastic.
