Picasso II Problem - Board Not Attached
« on: November 19, 2006, 02:36:33 AM »
I have just installed a Picasso II in a A2000. In Picasso96 mode the monitor setting shows but when trying to attach that to the board the drop down menu says no board. In Show Config in Tools, it shows the board no problem. I tried installing a early version (2.4)of the software but it then comes up with the vilintuisup library not being able to be loaded. I think I had this problem with a Picasso IV some years ago but are now unsure how to fix the problem. Can anybody help (A2000 GVP030-40 3.9 software 2091HDD card A2320 Flicker Fixer) :-?  :-?

Thanks for your reply! I understand this: I installed Picasso 96 first. When the board did not show in Picasso96 mode I uninstalled it and tried installing the old Picasso II software i.e version 2.4. to see if that would work. It is with this software I get the message on boot up unable to load vilintuisup library. I have tried uninstalling and installing both versions several times.
It goes without saying I removed the monitor files and settings as well as libraries as well when doing this. (I have 3 other machines with Picasso IV's and owned a picasso II years ago. I bought this one to install in a 2000 as it is zerro II only. I wonder if it has something to do with A2000 and the address of the board. Any more suggestions would be appreicated!

Thanks for your reply. It does show working on early startup. I think I tried changing slots but will try that again. What I might also do is try it in a A4000 just to make sure it works in it.

Thanks for your reply Bob! I tried some time ago to shift the jumper but that did not help. The GVP card does have 8 MB ram and the 2091 SCSI card has 1 meg. It also has a 1mb Mega chip as well. I will try and remove a simm tonight when I am home from work and see if that helps. I really think the problem is something to do with memory mapping or similar however am not a expert in such matters.

Got it to work!! Had to remove 4MB of ram and uninstall Picasso 96 (as it still did not see board to attach even after I had taken out the 4mb ram and tried altering jumper on Picasso board for segmented memory)I reinstalled the old version of the software and it worked although Workbench seems a bit flakey with 4 mb ram on OS3.9. Might have to reinstall 3.1. If I take only 2 Mb off the 030 card to leave 6 in total the system still seems to address 8MB. Anyway thanks all for your help. Much appreciated

Thanks for the info. It is a older board. I am using P96 on several other 4000's and a 3000 amiga I have with Picasso IV's no problem. Might try P96 again.  When trying either software I have uninstalled - reinstalled all parts.

That's interesting as I have cybergraghics also - however have always had problems getting it working but have had no problems with P96 on the several Picasso IV's and the Cybervision 3D that I own in the various machines I have. The 2000 is a neat and immaculate machine I obtained recently to add to my collection along with several zorro II cards from another source. I thought a graphics card would be nice in it with 3.9 installed however it has certainly cause me a bit of grief. I also obtained a Golden Gate 486 board, 3 PC cards, and related stuff and thought it would be interesting to try to get this old stuff working in the 2000 as well as it has extra PC slots to fit everything in however I might give it a miss for a while - anyway thanks again - Chris
