A4000 Battery! Now that WAS scary...
« on: September 29, 2003, 03:10:05 PM »
...de-soldering that bloody battery from my A4000 motherboard!

I've got two lovely long-ish wires there now, all ready to solder on my new coin battery when I get home.

Just to say thanks too all the people who gave me advice Friday/Saturday on how do proceed with this little hack.

Here's hoping the machine works OK when I get it put back together.

Cheers
Daniel

I destroyed a motherboard here at work from a PC, solely for the purpose of nicking it's battery for the A4000.

You can use any PC battery I think, aslong as you put a diode in there to stop the Amiga trying to charge it when the power is on. If you try to force power through a lithium "coin" battery then they can explode.

Just gotta stop that and you'll be sorted.

Look for LithBatt.lha on Aminet, it'll explain it a whole lot better than I have  :-)
