Well, thanks for the taking the opportunity (and obviously a lot of your time) to get stuck into an unfinished application. Well plugin.
You see, I wouldn't really mind this post as it points out a lot of things (which I already know about) which are broken and/or not working correctly.
What I do mind though, is the way you've written all of those snide remarks at the end. Also, posting your comments on a public forum as a means to say "Mines, better than yours 'cause yours doesn't do this, and that, and that doesn't work like it should". That's how it comes across to me.
Would it not have been better to simply put down here; "Yes, Epistula has a few problems with the MSN plugin, I've contacted the author about them, in the mean time I'd recommend using AmiMSN until they're fixed"?
Fair enough, if it was finished, then yeah, I would think it would deserve a post like this. But as I'm currently using the MSN plugin along with the ICQ plugin to test the functionality of the client communicating with various plugins and their protocols, it seems a little OTT.
Now having said this... This is current cons. It isn't a backlash of Epistula as it is currently in development..
Which pretty much makes this post, and all of your 'points' rather moot doesn't it?
I am just pointing out reasons not to use it yet,
and perhaps the fact I wrote my own MSN client clouds my own judgement
Actually to tell the truth I really was trying to hard to point out every fault
or incomplete thing possible in the current version
Feel free to list the CONs of AmiMSN while your at it!
Epistula has the potential to turn into something great.. but currently.. and this is not biased, I don't recommend using it as it's way too unstable to have even been released.
I'll be the judge of that thankyou. It's stable on my machine, so why not let other people have a look so we can have helpful people like yourself pointing out what's wrong with one plugin.
