Sata HD and WinXP in LA area needed
« on: November 08, 2011, 09:34:37 PM »
Appologies for listing W#nd#ws here, but, I'm in need of help.

My laptop was stolen recently. I've been donated a PC motherboard and case to build a new system with, and all that's needed now is a HD and a copy of WinXP.

The only reason I'm bothering with Windows is the video editor/digitizer I use. Otherwise, I plan to mostly use Linux and would like to try Amikit, since I've got Amiga Forever and everything else I need for emulation.

So, is there anyone in the Los Angeles area who has the above mentioned items? I'm quite poor, and the video work is for a not-for-profit, so hopefully, someone can give me a decent deal.

Thanks for looking.

Not nice, mate. Hope no important data was lost. I have plenty access to phased out machines with Windows XP licences attached to them if you need one of those. The actual XP media is easily available in the usual places if you have a CD-burner.

No surplus 3.5" HD at this time I'm afraid (these are mostly shredded). I have 2 Compaq N600s gathering dust in my cupboard, should you have use for a Pentium III ~800MHz laptop. I guess it'd far too slow for editing video and shipping to USA might be expensive.

I already have a Pentium 3 at home, and it can barely handle Movie Maker. What I was donated is good enough since it came with a serious video card. A HD with XP is all that I'm in need of.

The worst part of the theft, was loosing all my personal videos and the having all my work on an animation using ImageFX disappear.

I might have an extra SATA drive lying around. Whereabouts in Los Angeles are you?
